Getting around in Amsterdam

Amsterdam's city center is pretty small, but it's just a little bit too far to discover on foot. This is why the locals bike around the area! Luckily, however, it has excellent access to public transit in the area as well.

By bike

Rent a bike in Amsterdam and get around like the locals. You can conveniently rent one in the city for around EUR 10 – EUR 15 a day. Cycling is the easiest way to explore the city center.

By foot

Most of the distances in this Amsterdam Travel Guide are within walking distance. Although taking a bus, tram or subway is going to be helpful at certain stages. Look out for the bikers as they have priority when crossing the streets.

By public transport

The best way to get around by public transport is by bus, train and tram. GVB is a travel firm, and they have a good offer on day passes.
