One of the oldest botanical gardens in the world is situated in the heart of Amsterdam! Hortus Botanicus is an escape from the area, founded in the 1600s for medicinal herbs, and now features a greenhouse, a butterfly house, a palm house and beautiful outdoor gardens.
The metal canopy walkway greenhouse is split into three separate areas of differing climatic environments to simulate the subtropics, the plateau and the tropics.
The palm house is a super picturesque structure, home to centuries-old palm trees. Visit the café at the entrance for a soda or a snack.
