Amsterdam restaurants opening hours

Most restaurants in Amsterdam are available from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. There are also a number of breakfast bars and cafes open all day. The Dutch usually have lunch between 12:00 and 14:00 and dinner between 19:00 and 21:00. In most restaurants, the kitchen shuts at about 22:00, but there are still locations for midnight snacks.

Tipping in Amsterdam restaurants

In most cases, Dutch restaurants do not have a service fee in the bill. It’s natural to tip an additional 5 to 10 per cent. Keep the tip in the coins instead of spending it on your bill.

Dutch restaurants habits

‘Amsterdammers’ love to go out for dinner or beer on one of the city’s many terraces. Around five o’clock in the afternoon, several pubs, restaurants and cafes tend to fill with young adults, students and visitors. On weekends, families have lunch or breakfast in the suburbs of the town.

Overall, the restaurants in Amsterdam have a relaxed feeling. Many restaurants do not need designer dresses or high heels. There are, however, several bars and parties where people dress up.
